I live in BC Canada and there is a big chance that my house might go into foreclosure very soon if some money doesnt come through quick. I was wondering if anyone knows how long a foreclosure typically takes? Also if I paid back all the arears would I be able to stop the foreclosure even if it was already in progress?

List it with a Realtor and price it to sell.

Call a realtor now and make sure they have short sale experience. How your mortgage is resolved is really depending on how much experience your realtor is. She/he will negotiate with the bank to figure out who this process will ultimately affect your credit. Keep making your payments on time. The majority of my clients have short sold in the last year with no adverse affect to their credit.

Lower your price. Price is king right now, and homes that are priced correctly for the market are selling.

Our mortgage was a variable rate mortgage, and my husband had lost his job and bills were out of control… We decided to cut our losses and do a short sell and avoid foreclosure (which had started). At this present time we are slowly regaining financial abilities even thru our country’s economic hard times…We want to purchase another home in about a year. Will banks see me as a risk, and deny me a mortgage because of my past situation?
