My husband left active duty military and went back to the reserves. We took a 3,000 dollar a month paycut and are having trouble making our mortgage payments. We’ve had the house for 2 years and it’s a VA loan. Are there any mortgage payment assistant programs to people like us here in Colorado? We are trying to avoid foreclosure at all costs. If we could get help with the payments until it sells (houses aren’t selling in our neighborhood right now) we could avoid a big headache for us in the future. Anywhere we can turn to?

He moved out when we separated and had been making half of the payment. Can I refinance, borrow enough to pay him off his half and get him off the loan? I don’t want to sell and move.

I had talked to the people at the mortgage company in the past and they said that even though we were one month behind, as long as we kept making the payments each month that we would be ok.

what are the odds of my bank giving me a lower payment in order to avoid going into default ??
My payments are $3100 per month, MY retirement is only $2000 per month , the money that I was recieving from baby sitting is no longer available to make up the difference, how can I get my bank to give me a payment reduction so that I can avoid defaulting ? what are some other options, I don’t have the money to update the house to sell , I had it on the market 3 times and it did not sell because it needs updating. thanks for your thoughts

Which company did you use? What were the fees? What options did they offer? And most importantly did their services actually help?
Thank you for your personal testimonies!
