The thing is if he now wants to work with the bank will they work with him. he wants to keep his house but does not know how to go about it now as he is already 7 months behind. He is in Chicago,Illinois.

Your uncle should immediately contact his lender. Make sure the person he is speaking to is his lender. In some instances the company he sends his monthly payment to might be just collectors or service rs as they are called in the mortgage industry.
If his company simply collect the monthly mortgage payment for his lender, he has to find out who is lender is. Once he get someone on the telephone he should establish this fact if they are servicing his mortgage loan or is this company the actually mortgage company.
Once he has established the fact that he is speaking to the company that can make decisions about his mortgage then he should ask about the programs available to their clients in his situation.
I hope this has been of some use to you, good luck.

It is definitely possible to work with the bank, but he has to know what he is doing. Banks will transfer you all day long unless you know specifically what you need and who you need to talk with. Make sure he speaks with the Loss Mitigation Department or the Home Retention Department.
If he needs help, there is a company based out of Arizona that has been doing Loan Modifications for 13 years. They have a great reputation, are attorney backed, have a money back guarantee, and have helped many homeowners modify their loans. They charge $1997, but they will not take on just any case, so you will have to go through a pre-qualification process.
Their website is http://www.7dayloanmod.com or you can call them at 877-330-3010.
